1. During most of  World War I, the rank Unterbootsmann did not exist. See page 74. -75. of this exceptionally good book: Steinböck-Baumgartner: Die Uniformen der k.k. österr. und k.u.k. österr.-ungar. Kriegsmarine 1797-1918 (H. Weishaupt Verlag Graz, 1984)
"Am 8.7 1914 ... aus dem  Unterbootsmann usf. wurde der Bootsmann. Dafür musste man aus dem Bootsmann und Oberbootsmann alter Art, die es nur mehr unter Reservisten gab und die ihre alten Distinktionen weitertrugen, den Oberbootsmann (I. und II. Klasse) machen."

2. Actually, there were 5 kinds of Bootsmänner from the creation of the Stabsunteroffiziere (Stabsbootsmann and Oberstabsbootsmann):
- Oberstabsbootsmann - with 3 yellow silk stripes + 3 small buttons
- Stabsbootsmann - with 2 yellow silk stripes + 2 small buttons
- There were NO rank insignia of  1 yellow silk stripe + 1 small button because there were NO "Stabsuntebootsmänner"!
- Oberbootsmann (later Oberbootsmann I. Kl., Reservists only) - with 3 stripes AROUND THE WHOLE CUFF
- Bootsmann (later Oberbootsmann II. Kl., Reservists only) - with 2 stripes AROUND THE WHOLE CUFF
- Unterbootsmann (later Bootsmann) - with ONLY 1 stripe AROUND THE WHOLE CUFF

3. The shoulder board of the Oberstabsbootsmann is inaccurate: on the left side of the board the stripes had a button.

4. There were Matrosen I. Klasse with one star on the collar, and II., III., IV. Klasse who had no star at all...
